Nueva colección de cursos en línea
Guide to Online Courses ha publicado una página Web con recursos actualizados sobre cursos en línea, grados en línea y universidades en línea. Puede encontrar información desde Arquitectura hasta estudios relacionados con la mujer. Recoge información de instituciones com MIT, Universidad de Yale y Universidad de California. Utilizan información recopilada por el "OpenCourseWare Consortium".

Conferencia Virtual sobre Redes Sociales: 5-8 de noviembre
Una invitación para la conferencia virtual Social Networking 2009 (Redes sociales), la cual se llevará a cabo desde el 5 hasta el 8 de noviembre de 2009, completamente en línea y de forma gratuita http://www.blip.tv/file/2707364/ (video promocional). El evento está dirigido especialmente a profesores de inglés (y otros idiomas); sin embargo, quienes no sean del área y estén interesados en aprender sobre los usos educativos de las redes sociales en línea también pueden participar. El idioma oficial del evento será el inglés.
From November 5-8, 2009, we will be running the Social Networking 2009 Conference. This open-knowledge event will be completely online and free and it is aimed at encouraging practioners to reflect on the role of communities of practice as a social network in ELT.
This event is being jointly organized by AVEALMEC and ARCALL, two Latin American associations, one based in Venezuela and the other in Argentina, interested in promoting the use of ICT in the language classroom.
For this event, we invited conference speakers from different parts of the world:
Etienne Wenger -United States of America Vance Stevens -United Arabic Emirates Nik Peachey -United Kingdom Charalambos Vrasidas and Maria Solomou -Cyprus Nicky Hockly -Spain Erika Cruvinel and Ronaldo Lima -Brazil Rita Zeinstejer and Paula Ledesma -Argentina Nellie Müller Deustch -Israel Carla Arena -Brazil Graham Stanley -Spain Jennifer Verschoor, Evelyn Izquierdo and Erika Cruvinel -Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil During four days, our guest speakers will be sharing their experiences and expertise with participants and will help us grasp a better picture of how social networks can be used in the language teaching and learning field. We will be discussing about the concepts and theories around social networks, communities of practice and the Web 2.0, as well as about the use, advantages and drawbacks of social networking tools.

HETS First Annual Best Practices Showcase
La organización Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) se prepara para un gan evento comenzando el 2010. La misma se llevará a cabo en el nuevo Sheraton Puerto Rico Convention Center Hotel & Casino, los días 14 y 15 de enero de 2010. Se invita a líderes académicos, facultad, especialistas de tecnología, investigadores, empresarios y público en general. A continuación una reseña.

Playing for Change
The Playing For Change Foundation (PFCF) is thrilled to announce the opening of their first music school, the Ntonga Music School, in Gugulethu, South Africa! Located just 30 minutes outside of Cape Town, the school will provide the children with valuable skills development and mentorship designed to instill self-esteem and confidence.
From basic music reading and writing to performance and production; the Ntonga Music School will provide a safe, creative outlet for the children while connecting them to other students around the world through music. It is the first school of its kind in the area and will be a source of great pride and inspiration for years to come.
